Oral health is a significant factor affecting older peoples’ quality of life, overall health and wellbeing. In this program we will cover common dental problems affecting older adults and recommendations for oral hygiene, dental habits, and proper nutrition.
Lauren Lee, BS, DMD Candidate is a 4th year dental student participating in the Community Oral Health Honors Program at Penn Dental Medicine also know as the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She provides dental care at Mercy LIFE each week and will be working as a general practice dental resident next year.
Jane Chang, BS, DMD Candidate is a 4th year dental student who has been providing care at Mercy LIFE as a Community Oral Health honors student. Next year she will be working as a general practice dental resident at the VA hospital in Denver, Colorado.
Karoline Genung, RDH, BS, PHDHP is the Public Health Dental Hygienist in charge of the Community Oral Health site at Mercy LIFE for Penn Dental Medicine. She has over 30 years’ experience as a dental hygienist. Karoline’s focus of practice over the years has been the treatment of periodontal disease and the prevention of it, especially in the elder community. At Mercy Life, which cares for adults 55 +, together with a faculty dentist, they oversee the comprehensive dental care of its members by Penn Dental Medicine dental students.
