Ralston My Way receives Support For workforce development from Friends Foundation for Aging

Philadelphia, Pa., April 30, 2020 – Ralston Center is pleased to announce a grant from Friends Foundation For the Aging (FFA) in support of Ralston My Way, a licensed non-profit home care agency serving adults 55+ in Northwest Philadelphia, with the mission to provide supportive services and programs to older adults in West and Northwest Philadelphia

Older adults are the fastest growing population in the world, and Philadelphia has a larger percentage of seniors than other major cities. As our population continues to age, Ralston is committed to supporting seniors in our community by offering affordable, high-quality on-demand care giving services, including home care, home repair, yard work, transportation and more. This includes continually improving the quality of our work by providing thoughtful and effective training for our staff and addressing the ever-growing home care workers shortage by providing opportunity for advancement and career growth to our workers.

Support from FFA will allow Ralston My Way to recruit, retain, and develop quality workers, by offering development and training opportunities. This includes opportunities for a select number of caregivers to participate in specialized training related to dementia care and Home Health Aide training and certification. Funding will also allow Ralston to evaluate and update current orientation and training programs which evaluate on core competencies including, but not limited to, topics such as Falls Prevention, Infection Control, Abuse and Neglect, Sensitivity to Aging, Communication, Confidentiality, Walking/Transfers, etc. Other advancement opportunities will include continuing education for full time staff and scheduled training for other employees.
